Casey, it was sad to learn of Sam's passing. As you know, we met because we had the same type of cancer. Sam was very helpful to me in this regard. Our acquaintance was short, but I'm glad I got to meet Sam. I'll miss him.

I met Sam netherland as a member of CINCPACFLT Band.He was a tremendous sax player and I had the greatest opportunity to be mentored by him. The things he taught me about the saxophone was priceless.Ill never forget you Sam.

Casey, Paul Geitzenauer here, I learned of Sam's passing today. Had no idea where you lived. Sam was a very good person, a fine PO and LPO, and a fine sax player. My deepest sym-pathy to you and family. God Bless.

Sam was one of the men who influenced me to make the music program a career. God bless you, Sam, and may you rest in peace.

Very proud to be station in Pearl with Sammy. Then later to be a friend on face book and later conversing on the Telephone. Sammy will be sorely missed by all his friends and shipmates.

Sam was a great guy. Enjoyed the times we spent together over a cold beer. Simply a nice guy.
