Samuel Bivens

Sam was a fantastic musician and teacher. I spent many hours in his basement listening to music,learning to read music, and how to improvise. He also taught me to appreciate and respect the importance of jazz as an art form. I continually benefit from what he taught me as I continue on my musical journey. Sam will live on through the many people whose lives he touched through his playing and his teaching.

I Played with Sam ocassionally at the Ebony Club in Knoxville. Really sorry to hear of his passing.

Sorry for your loss. Samuel and I attended Knoxville College together. He can blow his horn in Heaven now and accompany the angels.
