BLOCK - Dr. Samuel March 10, 2014, beloved husband of Lois Block; loving father of Jennifer Block of Princeton, NJ and David (Jackie) Block; brother of the late William and Marvin Block; devoted grandfather of Hannah and Elise Block. Funeral services will be held Thursday 12 Noon at MESNEKOFF FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd, E. Amherst 14051. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation of WNY and Congregation Shir Shalom. Shiva will be held Thursday 7-9 PM at Dave and Jackie's residence. Dad- I just wanted to let you know that you and mom are always in our hearts and always will be. I miss you!

Sympathy and thoughts are sent to Sam's family and friends. He was a very gentle person, but yet firm when he had to be and we appreciate having known him. God be with you during this time.

Uncle Sam was one of the most wonderful men I've had the pleasure of having in my life. He is a true mentor for all people of all ages.Uncle Sam your legacy will live on for ages through the memories you have created and in the hearts of the people you've impacted. I was never fortunate enough to be in Dr. Block's class at Hutch-Tech 1955-1959 but always respected him as a gentleman & scholar. He always had a smile for everyone. Years later, circa 1985, I saw him in the parking lot at my neighborhood Tops Market. When I addressed him by name and said , "Hello", he immediately engaged me in conversation and wanted to know my name and era at Tech. He was the most pleasant man.
