Lois Butterfield passed away June 2008, and then, quite unexpectedly, Sam Butterfield passed away later that year. For both my wife and I, their passing away has been a huge loss; they were our very dear friends in the community.

I would like to express my condolences to Sam's family. He was a wonderful person that I had the pleasure of knowing on the tennis court as my mixed doubles partner. He endeavored to improve his game in a competitive spirit and enjoyed the companionship of his tennis friends. I was so impressed by his determination as a then 74 to 76 year old tennis player.
