Not sure what to say?

Hi All,
I last visited Uncle Sam on his birthday bash a few years back. What a character he was. I wish I'd lived closer and could have visited with him more than was possible. He was just full of personal memories, history, and a great sense of humor.

When my mother (Sam's sister Jean Roetling) passed, I got a good laugh out of him when I said "Here I am, a real live nephew of my Uncle Sam!" He seemed to me to be very forthright. I wish we lived closer to all my cousins and their extended family's. I am proud to have Carson as my middle name, and I gave it to my son as his first name.

Uncle Sam will be missed. I have many memories of Dad and Uncle Sam "discussing" every topic under the sun, each with his own unique perspective. I enjoyed listening to the family stories they told together, and laughed about. Now the two of them can sit sbove and watch the goings on from a higher perspective. Love to you all in the days to come.

He was a wonderful grandfather, we will miss him very much! I have many fond memories, but two stick in my mind. His constant advise to marry a rich, christian man and his order to "get a job you bum"! Love ya grandpa!

I remember Uncle Sam as a good straightforward sort of man. From what I saw he was a wonderful son, caring brother and a great father. He always had a rapier wit and used it on many occasions but never in a hurtful way. I was happy to see him on any and every occasion. Even though we hadn't seen each other very often in the recent past, he will be sorely missed. My sympathies to the entire family.
