Had lunch with Sam the Wednesday before he passed. As usual, he was so vital that when I received the somber news, it was unimaginable. He was such a life force on an off the courts, two years later it is still hard to grasp. Truly a remarkable individual, who will be remembered by everyone he touched.

Sam enjoyed attending the events here at the American Airlines Center. Concert lover & Sports Lover he was. It was always a pleasure to answer when he called with such a fun deep voice. I enjoyed listening to him speak about his world travels & wish I could have his energy at half his age! I will miss that pleasant voice. Please call on us anytime. May God Bless your family.

As one of Sam's former East Bank teammates, I'll always remember his zest for life, infectious laugh, competitive spirit, and deadly shooting eye. Barbara and I are deeply sorry for your loss.

Dearest sweet Jill and family, Please accept my sincere condolences on your tragic and much too early loss of your most precious Sam.
Sam captured the hearts of all who knew him including ours. He made everyone around him feel so special and I am so fortunate to have known him and his positive spirit and energy! His memory will live on in all who knew him and loved him. God bless you all.

As a sometimes teammate and sometimes foe but always a friend, Sam will be missed by all. His infectious "love of life" will be sorely missed at all the basketball tournaments.
