Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory - Valdese Obituary

Mr. Samuel Scott Daves, 27, of Valdese passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. Sam was born on December 8, 1988 in Burke County to Michael Scott Daves and Wanda Watson Daves. He was a loving son, brother and grandson, who had a love for the Lord, his family and friends and his beloved dog, Nala Girl. Sam enjoyed listening to music, going on hikes, camping, playing baseball and poetry. He knew and acknowledged that Jesus was "the only real solution in a world filled with illusions". Sam was a self taught computer specialist, avid athlete and was very intelligent. But most of all he had an enormous burden in his heart for those who were hurting and facing hardships of their own. He often gave his last penny or food to help someone in need. We were blessed to have him as a son and are so very proud of him. Sam was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Doris Turner Daves and Nancy Eagle Watson and preceded also by a grandfather, Joseph William Watson. Survivors include his loving parents, Michael and Wanda Daves of Valdese, siblings, Aaron Daves of the home, and Emma Daves of Asheville, grandfather, Wilton Daves and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Morganton First Church of God on Summers Rd., with Rev. Jon McDivitt and Rev. George Patton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made in Sam's memory to: C.C.R.P., 1201 S. Sterling St., Morganton, NC 28655. An online guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservices.com Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory of Valdese is serving the Daves family.

Dear Mike, Wanda, Aaron, Emma, and Wilton, My heart is broken with the pain you are experiencing. May our Lord grant you love, mercy and grace as you go through this difficult grieving period. You are loved.

I am so very sorry for the loss of this kind and compassionate young man. Sam was one of my son's, Corey's long time friend. They shared many things together, the good and the bad. I truly believe that Sam is free from the torment that he struggled with in this life, and he has gone on to enjoy true freedom through knowing Jesus as his Savior. I will see Sam again someday... can't wait.

Sam I love you and I am going to miss having you there any random thought and needed to call you for answers and I always value your opinion and i will never forget the deep descriptions of dreams, solutions, feelings, advice, etc. I will think about you throughout the years to come and keep you alive in me! I can't believe this happened. I love you bro!

Mr Wilton Daves, So sorry about you're Grandson. May God give you and you're Family Love, Peace, and comfort at this time.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. I was touched by reading about Samuel's generosity towards those in need. It sounds like he led his life in a way that we all should all emulate.
