Not sure what to say?

I enjoyed Sam as a friend, as well as a wonderful accompanist when I was singing in the Albany area. I was very shocked and saddened to hear that Sam has passed away, especially at such a young age and leaving so many loved ones behind. Harriet and family, I'm so sorry for your loss and pain...

Condolences to the Farkas family.

I had the privilege of playing with Sam in the SUNY Albany jazz ensemble in 1978 or so. The big band, led by Ray Rettig, was full of ringers from the Capital District: Sam, Cliff Lyons, Otto Gardner, Jim Finn and Mark Foster. It was a solid assemblage of dedicated musicians and Sam was most helpful to all of us. Though our encounters were limited over the years since - usually related to bootleg Real Books - he was always encouraging and...

To Sam's family- my heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I was a local musician who met Sam in 1989 when I came into his store looking for rental PA gear. From the day I met him to the last time I visited him a few weeks ago, Sam was a class act, always taking lots of time out to talk with me and help me along with my musical needs. I also would often times run into Sam at area concerts at Proctors and the Palace Theater.
Sam always had that smile and always greeted you as an old friend. He...

To The Family of Sam Farkas,
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Sam. When I was writing my own rock magazine I always visited Sam and left copies for him to distribute. Please accept our deepest sympathy and we'll keep you in our prayers. Shalom.

Dear Harriet, Seth and Alyssa: I was very saddened to hear about your recent loss.

My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you.

I am surprised and saddened to learn of Sam's untimely passing. He was always willing to help me and others in many different ways. I always enjoyed our little talks at A S. Above all, I'm proud and honored to call him my friend. God bless his wife and children. Harry Onley, East Greenbush, NY

To Barbara Farkas and Sam's family- We were very saddened to hear about the loss of Sam. My son, Evan Dwyer, took lessons from Sam, and enjoyed him and learned a lot. He will be remembered very fondly. Sincerely, Karen Gerstenberger

I was fortunate enough to meet Sam in the late 80's. I was an ambitious teenager who was just starting out on guitar. I remember walking over to Adirondack Strings on the weekends to hang around and listen to stories from local music heroes and their crazy gigs. Listening and learning. Sam would always have an answer to any question anyone had. He was a talent on stage and off. I kept his words in my brain for when my turn came to start performing. Sam always helped me get the right tools...
