Fr. Sam and Trudy adopted Claudia and me when we were a young clergy couple trying to figure out what parish ministry looked like. They provided years of wise counsel and good friendship for us. Sam was too humble to recognize that he was a mighty man of God, but those of us who knew him saw the light of Christ shining through him every day. Now the Lord has thrown wide the gates of larger life for him. Thank you, Lord, for sharing Sam Hardman with us for so many years.

My deepest condolences to the entire Hardman Family. I had the honor of working at Beckwith for Fr. Sam many years ago & truly adored he & Miss Trudy. It was the summer Sue was there. Fr. Sam then became a temporary minister at St. James & it was great to see him beyond the summers. Rest in Peace Fr. Sam. You will be greatly missed.

I will always remember, with sincere affection, how Father Sam brought smiles to the faces of my sons while teaching them valuable lessons during his always-memorable children's talks. He will live on in our lives and the lives of many others because of the genuine, caring way he brought God's messages to life. He blessed many with his warmth, humor, and love.
