This is a fine obituary for a wonderful guy. I'd like to comment on Sam's incredible work ethic. After I had been working for some years with Sam at The Merrill Anderson Company, he asked me to join him on one of his sales trips in Ohio. He was legendary for being able to pack 3, 4, or even 5 calls on bankers into a single day.
