I got to know Sam Higgins while working at the FL Dept. of Education. He was a very nice guy and a pleasure to work with and be around. I was glad that he was able to sign my copy of his book in April 2000.

Bernie and family,

I read of Sam's passing in today's paper. I have such good memories of him visiting across the street at Mama's house -- always a smile and a twinkle in his eye. My favorite memory is from several years ago, when Mama was having a garage sale. I came over to investigate the sale and, for some reason, Mama was gone when I got there. But Sam and some other neighbors were there, and Sam had mischievously put a For Sale sign on her car!

Jim remembers Sam from...

I was saddened to hear of Sam's passing. Sam taught me many lessons during the time I knew him and made quite an impression. I will miss his smile and jovial disposition.

We are sadden to hear about the passing of Dr. Higgins. We will always remember him as a very friendly person at church and when working as a substitute teacher and adult education teacher. Our thoughts are prayers are with you, especially Mrs. Higgins.

We are acting like retired people and are in the mountains of North Georgia at the present time and are unable to be with you at the service.
Love,
Ray and Bonnie Blitch
