Dear Carla, please accept my condolences at your loss. Sam was a force to be reckoned with and I remember vividly meeting him when Max Manes was organizing Seniors for adequate Social Security in the 1970ies.
We will be in touch, Warm regards, Friedhilde Milburn

I knew Sam to be a man of unbound energy in addition to a great personality and sense of humor.

His dedication and hard work on behalf of working men and women will long be remembered by those of u s who had the privilege of working with him. He gave his all whether on a picket line or in a Paul O’Dwyer campaign.

Mike Quill once said that the labor movement was in trouble when labor leaders started wearing tuxedos.
I doubt that anyone ever saw Sam in a tuxedo.
