I just learned of Sam's passing. I had the pleasure to work with him for a number of years, and I was always impressed by Sam's approach to life, his devotion to his family and the kindness and decency he consistently displayed to everyone. My condolences go to his family.

I was shocked to hear of Sam's passing. In addition to the years playing football at R_MC, Sam and I spent several summers working out together during the off season. His smile and sense of humor is something that drew his teammates to him. He helped my wife surprise me with a new class ring after I lost mine. I last saw him at the airport as we both came in on a red eye. Sam was a great man and great teammate and I bet an even greater husband and father. Rest in peace my friend.

Sam was one of the kindest people I've ever met. I loved for him to visit us at The University of Alabama, and I like to think we were his favorite (or at least his most interesting) account. :) He always spoke so fondly of his family, and was so very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Sending you lots of love and prayers for strength during this difficult time.

Sam had a heart as big as Texas and was a good man, and in my book, it doesn't get any better than that. He will be looking down from his place in heaven and will be there whenever you need him. He is alive and well, living in your hearts forever and ever. He will be gently guiding his children to make the right decisions as his days of being a great dad are not done. And we all know, a dad's job is never done.

To dear Elizabeth and to your children,
My deepest condolences. I am so sorry for your loss. Just looking through the pictures, I could see Sam had a big heart. To carry all that love.
May your hearts be comforted as you grieve and may your memories be blessed as often as you remember him.

Condolences on behalf of college friends and teammates. Sam was a fixture on our Randolph-Macon College football team that won two ODAC titles and beat Hampden-Sydney three years in a row thanks to his stalwart presence on the defensive line. He was also a quiet friend to all who came into his presence, including me, and will be missed.
