Not sure what to say?

Sam, my brother-in-law leaves quite a legacy. I met him when I was 8 when my sister, Marguerite started dating him. He was always kind to me as a child and was sincerely interested in my life. When I was a teenager, Sam taught me about the difference between the Democratic and the Republican parties, and encouraged me to be a Democrat. In my young adult years we had lively conversations and exchanged letters about spirituality and Southern literature. I remember visiting Sam and Marguerite,...

So grateful to have spent some time as a parishioner while Sam was rector the second time. Wishing a peaceful transition for his family during this time.

Marguerite, Cooper, Gabriel, My deepest condolences to each of you on the loss of your husband and father. I knew him from my time at the Washington National Cathedral. I remember him mostly for his quiet manner and his tireless work to bring peace to a troubled world as Dean of the Cathedral. While it is sad to lose him so soon I am honored to have known him and grateful for the work he has done in making this a better world. Billy W. Patterson

Caring thoughts to Marguerite and all The Very Reverend Sam Lloyd´s family. As our Teacher journeys into the ages, we are eternally grateful for Sam enriching our lives through intellect and spirit. He joins loved ones and brethren, like Bishop Tutu. Their poignant amalgamation in the Cathedral´s space and at the Lloyd's home will remain most enriching. In peace. Your faithful flock.

Thank you Sam and your family, for making a huge difference in my life and our lives at Trinity Church Boston. There are so many great memories of such a great man who helped us know God deeply. Janet Spurr

Sam- I remember you from an earlier, more innocent time in high school in Canton. Through card games, teen age pranks and debate team, I knew you as a deep thinker who sought answers to questions most of the rest of us never thought to ask. I never thought of you as a future priest, but I was not surprised that that was the path you ultimate followed. I salute you for a well lived life and a well deserved peace.

Sam made the sense of God alive and real ... and opened our eyes to catch glimpses, as he would say, of the beating heart of love at the center of the universe. How fortunate we at Trinity were to have Sam and the Lloyd family with us. Thank you, thank you. May you rest in the Eternal Peace you shared.

Dear Marguerite , I remember how lovely it was to see you and Sam at Pawleys Island with Mary and David Field . I also heard some of Sam´s eloquent sermons from the National Cathedral . We have all lost an extraordinary person too soon . Keith and I send our heart felt sympathy and condolences in your great loss and pray for you and your family for strength and peace . Caroline and Keith Williamson

Mrs. Lloyd, Cooper and Gabriel, I will never forget Sam's brilliant and well thought out sermons while I attended Trinity. But I what I will remember most about him is his love for humanity and call to social activism, and making things right. I am truly sorry for your loss, and a loss I might add to us as Christians. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
