Dear Vivien and family: Ian and I were saddened to learn of Sam's death. We feel a bond with your family because of the wonderful family home which we enjoy as had your family. It was a pleasure to keep in touch with Sam at Saturday Club meetings. I always admired his sense of humour, decency, intellect, curiosity, and considerate manner. Our condolences on your loss.

Just received this awful news today. I feel so sorry for EVERYONE who knew him. He will be so missed - he was such a wonderful man. RIP Sam.

Sam was one of my pathology mentors from 1975 to 1978. His enthusiasm for medicine, for science in general as well as for artistic life was remarkable. My thoughts are for Vivien and family.

Dear Ludwin family, So sorry to hear about Sam's passing. Both Mike and I attended Wits University with Sam. He was in my class and then in my husband's class. We both thought that he was a wonderful person and would achieve very much in his life. We emigrated to the USA in 1977 and now live in Sacramento,CA. Please accept our sincere condolences.
