John, Dr. James (Mary) and George (Dana); proud grandfather of Nicholas Samuel, Michael, Alexander, Andrew, Samuel, Nicholas George and Anastacia; dear brother of the late Philip; dear brother-in-law of Besse Maragos and Patricia Mavrick; fond uncle to Dean P. Maragos and Rene (John) Grevas; and friend to many. Member of Illinois State Senate, Illinois House of Representatives, Cook County Circuit Court Judge, Chairman Board of Trustees John Marshall Law School, Pan Arcadian Federation of America, A.H.E.P.A., Archon Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantanople, Illinois and Indiana Bar Association, Hellenic Bar Association Founder, Commander American Legion, President of South Chicago Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Calumet District Boy Scouts - Silver Beaver Award, Board Member of South Chicago YMCA. Funeral Friday, relatives and friends to meet at SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 S. Roberts Rd., Palos Hills, at 9:30 a.m. Service begins at 10 a.m. Interment Fairmont-Willow Hill Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m. at Hills Funeral Home, Ltd., 10201 S. Roberts Rd. Dear Mrs. Maragos and Family,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Maragos. He was such a wonderful, well-respected man who gave so much of himself to the community. We are sorry that we just found out today about his passing. May God give you strength and comfort during this sad time in your lives and may he live forever in your heart and memories.
