Samuel L. Monroe Jr., 78, of New Britain, Connecticut, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired machinist for Stanley Works, died at New Britain General Hospital on Thursday, May 16, 2002, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Calling hours are scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2002, 7-9 p.m., at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, Crestwood Lane, New Britain. Homegoing services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 11 a.m., at the church, officiated by the Rev. Charles F. Tillett, pastor. Burial will be at the veterans section of Fairview Cemetery. Full military honors will be conferred. Arrangements entrusted to Paul A. Shaker Farmingdale Funeral Home, New Britain, Connecticut.
