Today I learned of Sam's passing when my email to him bounced and I'm shocked/saddened by the loss of such a wonderful man. In my 34+ years of service to the U-M, he was the best administrator I ever worked for and his support and encouragement continues to fill my soul. Rest in Peace Sam - well, wait, I'm sure you and Carey are having quite the reunion! :-) May God be with you and all of your family! You will always be missed!

Sam was a visionary who contributed much to the University's information technology infrastructure in the 80s and 90s. One of his biggest gifts was his support and mentorship of women in the organizations he led. He was truly a gender equality pioneer. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to Dan, Laura and Shawn.
