Even though I met Sam after he was under the care of his caretakers, he never failed to be the "Sammy" I always heard about. The man who was able to break the whole room into laughter with a couple witty, clever words. Always the continuous source of music history.

My most sincere condolences to you on the passing of Sam.

It has been nearly thirty years, but it seems like yesterday that Sam and I enjoyed time fishing the channels of Lake Minnetonka, traveling to and from Lake Washburn for elusive walleyes, playing in the band together, and wildly cheering on the North Stars while playing pool in Ruth and Harold's basement in Edina.

Sam was the only person I ever witnessed catching a walleye on our lake and it must have been as big...
