A Soft Spot for His Dogs
Sam Salvo loved his Stoli on the rocks and he loved good food. "He was a hefty guy, he could eat a lot," said his daughter, Sue. "He knew the best restaurants, everything."

"Anything he does is the best," Ms. Salvo said with a fond laugh, speaking of her father as if he were still alive.

Mr. Salvo, 59, had reason to feel confident. He had worked his way up from nothing to become a vice president of Aon, the insurance company that had offices on the 105th floor of 2 World Trade Center.

But Mr. Salvo had his soft side, too. He was almost ridiculously fond of his dogs. There was Dallas, the Weimaraner who, when she stood on her hind legs, was nearly 5 feet 10 inches, and then there was the mutt, Amber. The Salvo children are grown: David is 29 and Sue is 27. So on weekends, Mr. Salvo would take the dogs instead of the kids on car rides, and at night he and his wife, Gladys, would let the dogs sleep on the bed. "The two dogs were like his little babies," his daughter said.

Hello sammy, rest in blessed peace..

In cherished memory ofSamuel

Dear Gladys and family, as we sail through our years on earth through God’s grace, today, as every year my heart goes out to you, for Sam and all those that were snatched from us way too soon. My memories of him are as vivid today as they were those many years ago. I see him still, holding court, loving life and watching over you all. Peace - Francesca from Lattanzi

Dad,
20 years have passed and the memory of that fateful day is forever engraved into my heart. I miss you tremendously and I think about you every day. I wish you could meet your 4 grandsons, you would really have enjoyed them. Each of them has some of your traits and we love seeing it in them. Continue to Watch over us.
Love ya Pop!

Sam, I always remember your bigger than life presence. All the restaurants, the long afternoons with Nick and Joe were so much fun. I keep those memories in my heart, you were like a dad and I know you are in heaven watching over your beautiful family.

I pray you continue to be embraced in the peace and love of our Lord and that you guide your beautiful family with faith and hope always.

It is 16 years. Can't believe it. I still see the plane crashing into tower II. Oh that terrible day.

We miss you and hope you will keep watching over us. Our grandsons are just wonderful kids and growing up too fast. We will toast you with a stoli at dinner.

Love, Gladys

Happy Fathers Day Sammy, hope you and the family are enjoying a feast. Are you taking the dogs for a weekend ride? We miss you.
Love, Gladys

Hi Sammy, well 12/10 will be 46 yrs. Happy Anniversary. I am sure you are doing your thing up there. Take care of UB & Dallas. As time passes the void still remains.
