Not sure what to say?

Until he retired, Sam was my Financial Advisor, so technically I was his client. But he always treated me as a friend and that´s how I´ll always think of him. When we would meet for financial reasons, our conversations would quickly devolve into important discussions about cars and motorcycles and football and music and other really important topics. Sam was such a special person in so many ways and lots of fun to hang out with. I know he will be missed by his family and friends. God speed,...

I am so disappointed I won't get to pay tribute to Sam or meet his family at his memorial. Having just learned of his passing yesterday, I'd already scheduled a flight to Michigan to attend Peter Rosenkrands Memorial on the 14th. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that these two very fine men and fraternity brothers will be celebrated by loved ones on the same day. I will be with you all in spirit.

I just learned about Sam. I am so sorry. I was trying to contact him by email to let him know about his fraternity brother, Peter Rosenkrands. When I couldn't reach him, something made me google him and then I saw the sad news. Sam was someone very special in my college years. Later, he was in the wedding party of my marriage to Rick/George Field, one of his fraternity brothers. Sam was also a busboy with other U of M Swimmers at my Sorority, ADPi. When I think about Sam I always...

So sorry to hear of Sam´s passing. He was one of the nicest men I had the honor of meeting. RIP Sam.

I remember Sam as energetic, eager for new experiences, and humorous. In the late '50s, my father took three of us boys (Brother Brad, Cousin Sam, and me) on a car trip through Colorado and Utah. We called it See Sights with Sam. Later Brad would sell his clarinet to Sam (an experienced saxophone player who would get the most out of it). But mostly I remember Sam at Portage Lake, enjoying summer.

My memories of Cousin Sam center around family visits to Portage Lake, where he kept a blue runabout, sailed his folks' Snipe sailboat, drove the ski boat for siblings, and generally showed how to enjoy summer. We started to hear about his tireless work ethic (and his saxophone playing with The Iguanas) in the '60s. Vital, energetic, and quick with a quip is how I remember him.

Yes, I remember Sam. He was a fun personality at work. Never took himself too seriously. Condolences to his family.
