Not sure what to say?

Hey Sam, every time a show comes on TV about Reproductive Medicine I think of your great life and work helping parents have children. Your buddy, Bill Manion.

I have learned of Sam's passing eleven years after it occurred. I spent two weeks with Sam in the summer of 1964 as we attended the 1964 Boy Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge, PA. He was a great companion during that time and we traveled together by Trailways bus from Chattanooga to Washington D.C., on to New York City to visit the 1964 World's Fair, and then on to Valley Forge before returning home to Chattanooga. A good friend for the trip and the only one in the troop who was taller than me....

I sure miss my days at WVU with Sam in the Anatomy Department. He had a tremendous dry sense of humor that I really loved. He died too soon and was a tremendous conscientious teacher. Bill Manion, MD, PhD, JD. fellow Anatomist. WVU

Interesting that not realizing this was the 10th anniversary of his passing I found myself thinking about Sam and what a kind individual and good physician he was. He remains in our hearts.

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Thatcher. He was a very caring man, and talented physician. He never gave up on us, when often times it seemed there was no hope left. After several years, procedures, and IVF treatments, we were blessed with our one and only son, who is now 12 years old. He gave us hope when all else failed. He had a true gift, and will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathy to his wife and famly.
Sincerly,
Jennifer, Stuart and Cole McCarson

We feel so fortunate in having Sam as a friend - the time was just too short!
His interests were wide, his conversation stimulating, and his wife, Helen, full of charm and grace.
There is an empty place in our hearts - a place that cannot be filled.
We plan to stay close, Helen, during this very hard time.

Dear Helen,

I was really socked to hear from Jackie Gutmann about the loss of Sam. I have known Sam since he was a resident in OB/GYN at Yale- New Haven Hospital and he delivered together with Adam de Cherney and Neri Laufer our daughter Nonica. Sam was a great man, a great gynecologist and a very dear friend whom always enjoyed to see. We will all miss him immensly. My wife Renia aour daughter Nonica and I we would like to convey to you and the rest of the family our warmest...

I am so sad to learn of the passing of Dr. Thatcher. My husband and I met him a year ago at CARS, and we were so touched by how much he cared about his patients. He will be missed.

Mrs. Thatcher and family,
Please accept our condolences. I just learned today of Dr. Thatcher's passing and I'm heartbroken. He was a wonderful man and a talented physician. He started us along the path that gave us our oldest nearly eight years ago and we now have three other beautiful children as well because of his diagnosis and treatment. We will forever be grateful. He will be greatly missed.
