My condolences to Mr. Vigil's family for their loss. I only knew of Sam Vigil as a student in high school and college in Las Vegas and during the time he was a legislator representing northern New Mexico. But even at this distance, I knew his reputation as a good and decent man, a leader who did his best for the communities he served. My Uncle Sam was a great role model for me. I will always remember him for the great advice and leadership he accounted in our family. I will miss my uncle very much. RIP Uncle Sam, Love you forever.

Sam was a dear friend who also quietly supported law enforcement in addition to his other pursuits. He will be missed.

Mr. Vigil did so much for our community and Northern New Mexico. He was a true fighter for our people. Mr. Vigil always put people first.
To the Vigil family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. May God comfort you now and always.
