Not sure what to say?

So, so sorry to hear of Sam Weening's passing. I worked as a secretary to the principal (Mr. Balish) and know Sam for many years. Not only was he an excellent teacher, a hard worker and a sincere, caring individual but he was always ready to help all those in need as a Chapter Chairperson, Many staff members, including myself, thank him for that! RIP, my friend.

He was larger than life as a teacher, a true character who engaged his students and made them better. He taught me 50 years ago but I can still hear his voice. Thank you, Mr. Weening, you made a difference.

Sam's life and mine connected frequently. He was my first social studies teacher at Tottenville HS, and my last one as well. He was the assistant scout master of troop 21 and helped me earn my Eagle award. Later we were colleagues on the THS faculty for many years, and he was most supportive of me during my tenure as principal and he as UFT chapter chair. He was the master of ceremonies at my installation as principal and gave the eulogy at my father's funeral. Very few people had more to do...

So sorry to hear of Sam's passing. He was one of the blood donors in June of 1947 that saved my brother Larry's and my life at Richmond Memorial Hospital. We were Rh factor babies. May he rest in peace. Wally Drill THS Class of 1964

I graduated the class of '69 and remember Mr. Weening well. RIP

Uncle Sam, You will be missed, but your memory will stay with me.
