Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Sandra (Sandi) Kay Lynn, age 61, passed away September 9th, 2017, at Dougherty Hospice House in of Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sandi was born in Sioux Falls, SD on July 24, 1956, to Robert and Helen (Walker) Jones.  She attended Axtell Middle School and in 1974 she graduated from Washington High School.

Sandi met Thomas Lynn through a mutual friend in 1973 and they married on June 15, 1974 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls.

She devoted her career to accounting/bookkeeping the family business with her husband beginning with Napa Auto Parts in 1977.  In 1994, Tom and Sandi managed the transition of their business to CarQuest Auto Parts where she finished her career in 2015 with Tom following in 2016.

During her early years, she could always be found out in the sun with friends and family around their pool.  She loved entertaining and summer was her chance to serve people by hosting frequent gatherings at the house for BBQ and swimming.

She also enjoyed spending time at the lake where she and Tom kept their camping trailer. Amongst family and friends, Sandi and Tom would spend most weekends at their “summer home” at Lake Thompson.  When she wasn't at the lake she was spending her remaining time with her grandchildren.

Those who were blessed to know her would agree that her humor was one of a kind.  She was infectious to be around and always sought to use laughter to lift people up.  During her treatment for breast cancer in the early 2000s, she would use her humor to brighten days of fellow chemo-therapy patients during their treatments.

Till the very end, Sandi’s personality was a lighthouse to people as she would continue to inspire laughter from the staff at Avera McKennan where she recently fought her final battle with cancer.  The Lynn family would like to personally thank the entire staff of Avera McKennan for their compassion and love for Sandi during her time with them.

Grateful for having shared Sandi’s life are her loving husband of 43 years Tom; her daughters Amy Anderson (Jeff Anderson), Crooks, SD, Allisa Richter (Justin Richter), Crooks, SD and Tara Lynn, Sioux Falls, SD; her son Ryan Lynn (Dawn Lynn) of Castle Rock, CO; her 7 grandchildren: Allison and Sydney Anderson; McKenna and Treyson Richter; Raegan Dempsey; Kelsey and Nicolas (Buzz) Lynn; her sisters Sharon Bettcher (Jerry), Marianne Scott, Pat Byler, Dianne Johnson (Scott) and Penny Alexander (Doug); her brothers Butch Jones (Barb) and Rick Jones and her many nieces and nephews.  Also thankful to have shared her life are her close friends.

Sandi was preceded in death by her father Robert Jones, her mother Helen Jones and her sisters Pat Byler and Marianne Scott.

Visitation for Sandi will take place on Tuesday, September 12,  at First Lutheran Church from 5-7pm.  Funeral services will take place at First Lutheran Church on Wednesday, September 13 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
