Michael:

Sandy's (and your) help and support have meant a lot to me over these last few years with Granddad and Grandmama. Debbie and I will miss her a lot. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sandra inspired me to be a better person and a better musician. She saw promise in me that I coudln't see in myself. She is one of my great mentors of life and I loved her so very much. My thoughts and prayers are with Michael and his family. St. Louis lost an amazing woman.

Michael and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. May the memories of wonderful times and the support of friends and family help you during your grief.
Mary Heltzel

I was a student of Professor Bouman's and everyday she would show me how much potential I had if I just put my mind to it. She had so much faith in me and her encouragement allowed me to believe in myself and all God has in store for me whether it be through music, or just living my life. She always had something nice to say even though she was struggling. I am going to miss her very much. She will remain in my heart forever and will never stop encouraging me to make the most of my life. ...

Mrs. Bouman was a beautiful person and I know her contributions to SIUE and her students have changed everything and everyone. I'm glad to have had her touch my life for even one year.

A luminaria will be lit in Sandra's honor during a special ceremony at
9:00 pm, July 19th, at Knox College as part of the Relay For Life events there. The ceremony is very beautiful and moving.

My thoughts are with all of you at this time. Sandra was friendly, funny, and gracious, and I thoroughly enjoyed her company when I had the opportunity to share it. Life has a music all its own with notes that reach into the hearts of many. Who knows how many new songs sprang from hers? Our prayers are with you always.
