Obituary

Sandra Dye Coots

Eva

Funeral for Sandra Dye Coots, 51, of Eva will be Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Joey Coots officiating. Burial will be in Etha Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Coots died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at her residence after a courageous two year battle with breast cancer with her loving family at her side. She was born January 30, 1960, in Madison County to Jerry Colbie Dye and Melba Strickland Dye. Her father preceded her in death. She was a Christian woman and belonged to Journey Church. She never wavered in her faith and was a strong woman of God. Her life was a testimony to living for Christ. Even as she fought this last battle, she witnessed through her "Caring Bridge" to thousands. She never stopped "believing". She graduated from A.P. Brewer High School. She spent several years at First American Bank in Decatur as Branch Manager and her most recent position was with BBVA Compass Bank as Branch Manager. She earned many awards and commendations as a result of her dedication and hard work. Her love for her family was first after her love for Christ. She loved traveling with her family, especially to the beach.

She was a beloved daughter, wife, mom, sister, and "mi mi" and she will forever be missed until we are united with her in heaven.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Coots; one son, Austin Coots of Eva; one daughter, Kara Johnson (Andy) of Somerville; mother, Melba Strickland Dye of Eva; three sisters, Linda Dye Beasley of Guntersville, Laurie Kay Dye of Athens and Pam Dye Tournaud of Kentucky; and her beloved granddaughter, Ella Grace Johnson.

This obituary was originally published in the Decatur Daily.

Our families have never met, but I know what you're going through. Four years ago I lost my mother to breast cancer. Her memory, courage, compassion for others, and most of all her will to fight will never be forgotten by your family. I pray that God comfort you during your time of sorrow and pain.

I had the privilege of getting to know Sandra while my wife and I were refinancing our mortgage at Compass Bank. She was a fine Christian lady. My prayers are with the members of her family.
