Sandra Knott was a true pioneer of the sport and certainly a great competitor. I watched her race when I was a college runner in the early 60's and later when I was a club coach. She will be missed.

Sandy was like a big sister to me when in 1965 I joined the Cleveland Division of Recreation under the late Coach Alex Ferenczy. I lost touch with her and will forever hold her in my heart. See you in heaven Sis. Madeline Manning Mims, gold and silver medalist because of you my friend.

I knew Sandy from when I was a member of the track team at Case Institute of Technology (later part of Case Western Reserve University) and saw her sporadically afterwards. She truly was a loving, caring person of faith as well as a great athlete. May God grant comfort to her family.

1967 Pan american Games Pentathlon

Sandy was a competitor of mine in the 800m which she ran in theTokyo Olympics. We were teammates in Tokyo as I had moved on to compete in the Pentathlon. After our competitions and shortly before we were to fly back to the
