Sandra forged a path of confidence, endurance, sacrifice and strength as she navigated through life's waters. She was a pioneer of women in the political arena carrying forth the torch of justice; she was an image of strength and determination as she overcame the most difficult of challenges; and she was a source of commitment, dedication and perseverance in both her family and community. Her deep faith, love and appreciation brought joy and sunshine to everyone she met. Our deepest prayers...

Charlie and Lyle,

Your mother was my mentor, my confidant, my big sister but most importantly my friend. She will be sorely missed. My prayers to you and your family.

She was a woman who truly understood what it meant to bear a "cross" and she had many to bear. Her spirit was very enriching. She never showed any self pity for life's sorrows. I'm sure those sorrows have now turned into rewards of joy. Reunited once again with her daughter lost long ago. May God richly bless you and your surviving family members. Until we meet again Aunt Sandra. Love Barry

My prayers are with you and your family. A loss of a Mother is difficult, but know the she is always with you. You will always have your memories and at times will find youself smiling while remembering. Charlie, you were a wonderful son, I know she was very proud of you. You were always there for her as she for you. She will always be in your heart and your families and that is why she will always be present.

Mary and Charlie, so sorry to learn of Sandy's passing. Had fun times with her on cruise - wonderful person. My prayers are with the whole family

Dear Lyle and Charlie,
I worked with your Mom at Tulane for several years, and we had more fun than you will ever know. What a laugh - what a smile - what a heart of gold. I'm sure she has all of the angels in heaven in stitches by now! I'll miss her.

Lyle & Charlie,
Sending deep, heartfelt sympathy on your loss - your Mom was a very special friend and will be missed by many.

If you were to look up "resilience" in the dictionary, I think that you should see "Aunt Sandra". This incredible woman was a pillar of strength in the wake of many adversities. Yet, in spite of it all, she always carried a smile and a laugh and could light up a room with her presence. She loved people and it showed. She loved her family more than life. Her children and grandchildren have been blessed as the rest of us to have had her in our lives. May she be enjoying heavenly peace with...
