Sandra Joyce McKinney passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the age of 69 years. She was born on August 16, 1943, in Fontana Dam, North Carolina, to Ralph Douglas Hunter and Nina Seawright Hunter. She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her granddaughters.
She is survived by son, John McKinney and his wife Alejandra of Katy, Texas; brother, John Douglas Hunter and his wife Kathy of Moscow, Idaho; granddaughters, Alessandra McKinney and Abriella McKinney; as well as many more loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis McKinney; and her parents, Ralph and Nina McKinney.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013, with Father Leo Gomez officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.

Sandy and I were at Greenwood High and Lander together. While at Lander we spent many hours studying together in the library. Unfortunately, we did not stay in contact over the years. She was so kind to send a card in 2010 when my mother passed away. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
