Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Sandra Marjorie Mielke, age 85, went to her heavenly home on December 27, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose legacy of love and generosity will be cherished by all who knew her.

Sandie shared 55 wonderful years with her husband Richard, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life full of joy, laughter, and lasting memories. Sandie’s loving family includes her children: Brian (Kim Nielsen) Mielke, Brad (Tammy) Mielke, Brenda (Jim) White, and Beth Mielke. She will be deeply missed by her 10 grandchildren: Max, Michael, and Olivia Nielsen; Jake and Tashina Brings; Alexis and JoLeigh Mielke; Breanna and Dustin White, and Megan (Luke) Burkhart; as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Zavian Washington, Jayden and Maddox White, Crystabelle Neuman, and Maeve and Maecie Burkhart. Sandie’s influence touched many other relatives, friends, and “adopted” children who lovingly called her “Mama Mielke.”

Known for her warmth and kindness, Sandie enjoyed spending her time doing puzzles, watching her “soapies,” playing cards, and occasionally winning a dollar or two at the casino. She was especially proud of crocheting over 100 hats for the homeless, a cause close to her heart. Sandie was always there for others, offering support and a welcoming space for all her children’s friends. Her door was always open, and she was loved by many for her selfless nature.

In addition to her parents, Edna and Edwin Arndt, and her husband Richard, Sandie was preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws: Geraldine Moti, Doug (Donna) Arndt, Red Arndt, and Paulette (Larry) Levasseur, and her great granddaughter Maeve Burkhart, who was just too perfect for this world.

Sandie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
