Not sure what to say?

I think of Sunny every time I move or add something to her assemblage which came to me as "Pens and Pipes." It included, with two carved birds, an antique ink holder to be held in hand, I think for dipping in a pen or quill. I renamed the assemblage "Only connect," from EM Forster's "Howard's End." Sunny and I shared that sentiment. It now holds a note mailed to me from Sunny, postcards from my father in Berlin and a photo my mother sent me of herself in front of the Taj Mahal, a chop and...

I visited Sunny often and she visited my restaurant in Mosier once insisting on sitting at table 11 because I wrote about it in newsletters she insisted I publish. She wanted a book and advised me often on how it should/could go. Conversations so many we had and a Passover meal I took to her when she couldn't attend. So many more moments with Sunny

I am rereading "The Inmost House[:]"... overwhelmed again not only by Sunny's luminous imagination and word sculptures, but by her cultural sensitivity and the thoughtfulness with which she interacted with her Japanese hosts and audiences. I am tempted to quote her astonishing 24 word "letter" that won her the trip to Japan, but she embeds it in this beautiful story. I urge you to look for it, to find the Sunny who is always with us.

Sandra, thank you for the encouragement to write my stories. I loved your energy to inspire others to become who they were created to be. You were so different than me but so alike. Will miss hearing your voice when you called in to the office to just chat and ask for my help. Love to you dear friend and condolences to your family.

I met Sunny mid 90's at a book exchange and for 20+ years we shared wonderful conversations about just about everything. I will miss her terribly. She shared with me how much she loved her children and grandchildren who completely delighted her.

I came to know Sandra later in life through our shared enthusiasm for poetry. I admired her for many reasons, among them that she was a multi-genre creative spirit who didn't see age as a fence to stand in her way. She was the Willie Mays / Mike Trout of wordsknocking plays, poems, and anything else she wanted to out of the ballpark.
