George L Doherty Funeral Service, Inc - Somerville Obituary

Rogers, Sandra M. (Slattery) Of Medford, passed away on February 21, 2023.

Born in England, to the late John P. Slattery and Carmel T. (Molloy) Slattery. Sandra and her family moved to America when she was only 12.  She met her husband two years later and together they built a wonderful life.  They began working small jobs and Sandra was a waitress for many years.  They opened a small convenience store where they provided opportunities for their children, their nieces and nephews, their siblings and their friends.  Sandra’s passion was her family.  She single handedly taught each of her 5 grandchildren to swim and hosted many poolside gatherings.  Sandra loved like no other.  She was her family’s biggest supporter, cheerleader, advocate and defender.  Sandra’s love was unconditional, especially for her dogs, T.C., Hercules, and Butler.  She gave them a wonderful life and each brought her immense joy.  Sandra was always looking to make people laugh, usually at her own expense.  If you ran across her at TJ Maxx you would have a new friend.  Sandra will be missed by so many.

Beloved wife of 55 years to Thomas J. Rogers. Devoted mother of Thomas P. Rogers of Medford, Carmel Casassa and her husband Dean of Winchester. Loving grandmother of Lindsay and Jonathan Rogers, Amelia, Avery, and Audrey Casassa. Cherished sister of Greta Covino and husband Bob, John Slattery and his wife Mary and the late Douglas Slattery and wife Lois. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral procession will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Monday, February 27th at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church 512 High St., Medford at 10:00AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. C

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, February 26th  from 1:00PM – 5:00PM.

Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

We are so sorry for your loss. Ms. Rogers was such a delightful person, and had such a wonderful energy that lit up the room. She was someone we always looked forward to seeing at every family gathering.

Remembering so many good times, family gatherings, our times in England as young kids; how quickly the years went by. We may not have always seen eye to eye but through it all we loved each other. Losing our parents and brother was something you never got over; I hope mom, dad & Doug greeted you when you went home. I love you & I’ll miss you
