Sandra “Sandy” Lea (Gisler) Starr, 78, went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2024 in Spring Valley, Illinois.
Sandy was born March 1,1946 to the late Delwin “Dick” and Elizabeth “Betty” Gisler in Peru, Illinois.
Sandy grew up with a tennis racket in one hand and a ball in the other. She loved playing tennis with her mother and with others. They both competed in many local and regional singles and doubles tournaments, earning many trophies and were mentioned in the local newspapers. Her love of tennis followed throughout her life.
Sandy loved her church and the many friends she cherished.
Sandy leaves behind a brother David Gisler of Irving, Texas, two daughters, Donna Boothe of Mount Holly, North Carolina and Michelle Ashcraft of Houston, Texas, two grandchildren and one great granddaughter along with many church friends.
Sandy will be cremated in accordance with her wishes at Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1431 4th Street, Peru, IL 61354 on March 1, 2025 at 6:30 PM.
