Not sure what to say?

I'm retired now, but there are times I think of Sandra, and her kindness to me as a Contractor at VDOT. A times, I watched in amazement as she would bring my wilted plants back to life. At other times, we just sat and talked and lauighed together about some of the crazy things going on at VDOT. Still miss her!

I miss my friend Kay. Think about the years we had known each other. Miss stopping by to check on you through the years.

I thought about Sandra again recently. I called her my PPS (Plant Protective Service) She was the one who had my office looking beautiful with the way she cared for my plants. I had always told her that I killed plants, and I would jokingly reassure the plants that they were safe in her hands. There were times when she would come to my office, and we would just sit a chat for a while. She was always so very pleasant to me, and I am still missing her today. Shirlene Staves

I learned today of Sandra´s death. She was one of my favorite people during my tenure at VDOT. I would see her at the start of each day, when I entered the building, and she made every day brighter. She had such a light-hearted, fun way about her. I always admired her painting and home projects and her work ethic ( juggling two jobs at one point). The world will miss her! She was one of a kind!

Whenever I saw Sandra, it was always with a smile and a kind and loving word. Even though we have been away from work for so long and I did not see her every day she left an impression on me that will last. If everyone would speak as kind as Sandra the world would be a better place. Rest in peace beautiful lady. Peace and blessings to the family... Love, Netrel

It is hard to imagine Sandra not being here. When I worked at VDOT, she was my Plant Protective Services person. That's the play title I gave her because she took care of the plants in my office for me. Actually, she was the one who gave the plants to me in the first place. And she made sure they were well taken care of. At times I would watch her repot plants and transfer them to a larger pot. At other times we just sat and talked - and laughed. I always looked forward to seeing her...

My friend, I will forever remember the sound of you cracking your boil eggs in the morning. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I had called Kay at 9:30 that morning on Sunday May 1 and left a message. I was sorry to hear about Kay, but I was glad I was able to speak to her about 3 wks ago on the telephone. Stay strong , she will not have to suffer any more. Let me know if I can help with anything. Love you all. Cookie

To the family of Kay- I'm praying that you allow God to get you through this difficult time of loss. I couldn't believe it. The last time I talked to Kay was when she called me a while after my son died. She was sympathetic and loving. To Antoine and Nikki- I know it was hard for you this Mother's Day because I too am still going through it. The love from your family will help you. Don't shut them out! Lovingly, LaMone
