Sara Garay

On Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, our dear beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sara Alvarez Garay, 79, of Derry, entered eternal life at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sara was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Miguel and Martina Bustillos Alvarez. She was a homemaker and a member of the Family Worship and Praise Center.
Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband of 59 years, Samuel M. Garay, of the family home; a son, Jack Garay and companion, Ariceli Moreno, of Caballo; daughter, Lydia Mullins of Hatch; one brother, Lorenzo Alvarez of California; two sisters, Mary McDonald and Priscilla Diaz and husband, Marcelo, all of Clovis, California; her daughter-in-law, Roselynn Garay, and her beloved puppy Peanut. Other survivors include four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation for Mrs. Garay will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at the Family Worship and Praise Center, 1205 Ridgetop Ave., with the evening service scheduled at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Matthew Garcia officiating. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at the Garfield Pentecostal Holiness Church in Garfield. Concluding service and interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, where she will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Samantha, Jack D. and Paul Garay, Salomon Garcia, Beto Campos and Abel Guerrero.
