Not sure what to say?

I cant even begin to say how often I think about Sara and how often I speak about her. She was the educator's educator. She was the bond that held the Chicago community of educators together. Because of her, and the weekend trips that she organized and led, the community of educators went to all meetings happily and productively. When she gave an assignment, we did it. When she said we were starting an extra study group, we all went. When we missed a meeting, she ALWAYS made a phone call...

She was my mentor, my strength when I needed it, my teacher, my friend. She was the force behind the Jewish community of educators to become great colleagues and friends. I will always miss her.

Sara created community for all the chicago jewish educators. She enriched the lives of every every individual within her circle, as well as the lives of every person that was touched by those whom she taught. Her life's work created a community of educators devoted to judaism, to one another, and to Jewish education.
As one of the recipients of her mind's and heart's work, I will be indebted to her as long as I live.
They say a person dies twice-- once when they physically die, and...

Sara was a great, teacher, mentor and friend. She encouraged me to be a Jewish educator, and gave me amny wonderful opportunities for professional advancement. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was a two-week seminar trip to Israel with Sara, Si and many other colleagues in December of 1991. Learned so much from her! And Inam the person that zi am today because of her. May her memory be a blessing to us all.

Sara Shapiro was a wonderful mentor to me as I was beginning to teach in religious school. She created professional ongoing education for religious school and Hebrew school teachers with a gentle and warm manner. She became my friend and I will always treasure her memory,

Sarah Shapiro was my late father's first cousin and my beloved cousin. My gratitude flows to her for embracing me as a young child and making me feel smart and capable at a time when I felt that I didn't fit in. I recall many holidays and occasions with our two families, and later, as an adult, I was grateful for her support in my discovery and contact with certain family members separated from us during the Shoah. May her memory be for a blessing.
