Sarah Arney September 19, 1952 - June 7, 2023 Sarah Arney was a journalist who wrote her own obituary. She expected to die at home "in her cute little 'townhouse' on the river bank in Arlington." Her pre-written obituary said that (her) "life was doomed by ovarian cancer". While Sarah was not...

Not sure what to say?

I met Sarah when we were both journalists in north Snohomish County in the 1990s. Ever after I enjoyed seeing her through the years at community meetings and art events. She made such a difference in her hometown by providing both information (covering all those council meetings) and beauty / whimsy / fun through the arts council. I was sorry to be out of town the day of her memorial. She was a wonderful woman who deserves to be honored.

When my husband, Keith Pace, was doing his artwork, Sarah was there to learn and to comment. She added so much ( in such varied ways) to the community of Arlington. I remember seeing her at so many city functions plus doing her ritual of running to keep healthy and strong and smart. She will always be appreciated and missed. (I lived in Arlington for thirty years and before we moved to Everett)

Sarah was one of my longest and best friends since I met her at Ohio University almost 40 years ago and fondly remember my time with her in Thailand, Croatia, Oso, at my home in Maryland and just a few weeks before her passing in Arlington. She is missed.

A fun, funny, and deep person who was always more interested in talking about you than herself, where she walked flowers grew, kindness was spread. She was Oso all the way, and a credit to her home town. Rest in Peace Dear Lady, you were a pleasure to know.

Sarah was widely admired (and appreciated) by those in Arlington and surrounding area. She was also highly respected by all of the artists in Snohomish County.

A life well lived
