Sarah Margaret Jamison Whitmore died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Loudoun Nursing Home Rehab Center in Leesburg, Va.

Mrs. Whitmore was predeceased in 1988 by her husband John Michael Whitmore of Prosperwell.

Born on September 2, 1915, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Sarah Margaret Harris Jamison of Barnesville. After graduating from Strayer College in 1933, she was employed by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in the Business Loan Section. She was a member of Beta Mu Sorority, the Venture Club of Washington, volunteered and sold war bonds during World War II and studied at Columbia University in Washington. After marriage in 1949, she was active in the Ladies Board of Loudoun Hospital Center.

Mrs. Whitmore was predeceased by two brothers, William Franklin Jamison of Washington and Charles Harris Jamison of Poolesville. Surviving are her children, Sandra Lee Whitmore Fletcher of Leesburg, Va., John Jamison Whitmore of Leesburg and Sarah Catherine Whitmore of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by one grandson, John Gordon Fletcher of Richmond, Va., great-granddaughter Alexandra Elizabeth Fletcher of Richmond, Va., step-granddaughter Katherine Elizabeth White of Sterling, Va. and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, Va., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27. Interment Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Va.
