Most recently I've helped him write Pioneer Editorials for Artificial Organs and met with him several times to discuss. I just heard of his passing and offer my sincere condolences to his family. He was a great and humble man and will be missed.

I met Sat in 1960 shortly after I arrived at the Clinic. I spent 8 mos in the Catheterization Lab before joining the Hypertension service with Irvine Page and Harriet Dustan, sharing space with the dialysis service. Sat was Pim Kolf's #2 man, always on the spot in the dialysis lab. I later completed my Cardiology Fellowship, joining the staff in 1962 and becoming head of Cardiology in 1975. Satoru and I were contemporaries for many years and I enjoyed his friendship and respected his skills...
