Saturnina Fernandez Mendoza

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, SATURNINA FERNANDEZ MENDOZA, age 92, lifelong resident of La Union entered the golden gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by all her loved ones. She was born September 26, 1929 to Miguel and Josefina Chavez Fernandez. Mrs. Mendoza was a devout homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn her passing include a son, Hector Luis Mendoza (Blanca) of Anthony, TX; three daughters, Mary “Blondie” Bustamante of Las Cruces, Irma Morales (Manny) and Barbara Munoz all of La Union; brother, Mike Fernandez also of La Union; five sisters, Josefina Salgado of Borderland, TX., Raquel Martinez and Maria Elena Flores both of El Paso, TX., Cruz Fernandez of La Union and Rosalia Lopez of Tucson, AZ. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, Marisa, Rocky, Osvaldo “Ozzy”, Marilyn, Denise, Lonny, Sandra, Nancy, Reina, Naomi, Santana, Patrick, Sarah, Estevan, Nina Leah, Damian and Adrian; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mendoza was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Luis Mendoza; son Patrick Mendoza and three brothers, Pablo, Richard and Rudy Fernandez.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Our Lady of Refuge Mission, 1320 Mercantil Avenue in La Union with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter.  The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be her family, grandchildren and friends.
