Saunders A. Davis

I am an alumnus of the Newark Center of the Arts (Newark School of the Arts) which Mr. Davis and Mrs. Stella Lass co-founded. I was a student there from 1974 to 1979.

I thank God for Mr. Davis' efforts with Mrs. Lass in founding the school. I know that without the exposure to the programs and teachers and ensembles, I would probably not have continued developing myself as an artist. The teachers at the school, the things they said gently and the things they said not-so-gently are...

Thank you for sharing Sandy with all of us here in Illinois. He meant a great deal to all of us. His spirit and smile as well as his kind and encouraging words will be with us always.
