Not sure what to say?

He was my professor in the year 2000. Here I am in 2025 remembering him. Clearly he made a lasting impact. My fondest memory is that he would teach all the topics on the overhead projector, with little to no notes. Just from the top of his head. I am even more impressed today by this. May you rest in peace.

I had the great honor of taking ME33 (Fluid Dynamics) with Dr. Yavuzkurt. Indeed his open book exams were very hard and I still remember this fact 28 years after taking his course. Great guy and funny guy with a great smile. I was searching him on google while sharing a story with my college student son and stumble on this news. Hope I may get to share some of my Turkey trip stories with Dr. Yavuzkurt some day (up in heaven) Julio Padovani

I remember Savas as the consummate gentleman, and Shu-er as a loving , caring woman. The world has lost a great man.

I was so sorry to hear that Savas passed away. He was one of the most friendly personable professors in the Mechanical Engineering Department when I worked there. Even after leaving the department, I would see Savas around the College and he would always stop to say hello to me. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed by family and friends. My heart goes out to the family especially at this time of year. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

I will always fondly remember Savas as such a wonderful human and I know he will be missed by many. May you Rest In Peace dear Savas.

I was so sorry to learn of Savas' sudden passing. I remember him from my days, many years ago, in Mechanical Engineering. He was very bright, accomplished, and so warm and personable--always a big smile on his face. May he rest in peace.

We are thinking of you, remembering the evenings of good food and conversation we have shared together. Love to your family.

We send our condolences to you , Shu-er , his sons and all his family. We will miss him a lot. We will not forget his smiling face.. Isiklar içinde uyu Savas....Seni Penn State' de güzel anilarimizla hep hatirlayacagiz... Funda&Anil

I was his ph.D student from 2013 to 2018. Dr.Yavuzkurt was a really wonderful professor, very smart researcher, kind and generous person. I learned a lot from him. Thank you very much, professor. Rest in peace in heaven.
