Not sure what to say?

I am very sorry about the passing of your son and my friend Scott. Many of us knew him as Scooter and I attended school with him from 4th through 8th grade. He was a shining example of an individual who stood up for his beliefs loudly and clearly. He would stand up and applaud when no one else would because he held himself to a standard not even conceived of by nearly all of his age group. Even among his friends he stood alone much of the time but always commanded their understanding in...

Marian, I was out of town a lot in August, and I didn't know about Scooter until Bob Tally called me today, because he'd seen the story in this morning's paper (Dec. 13). I can't tell you how sorry I am. Of all of Richey's friends, Scooter is the one I remember the best. We loved him. Richey lives in Oakland, Calif. He doesn't know. I will call him today. My heart goes out to you. I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be. Please know that I am thinking of you. I'm so happy that...

I am deeply sorry to hear about the tragic passing of Scott, or Scooter, as I knew him. I only heard of his passing today through an old mutual friend. We attended FCDS together, 1st grade through third grade and I have many fond childhood memories playing together. I especially recall playing with chemistry sets together around the third grade - Scott was quite the young genius scientist. My prayers are with Scott's wife, his child, and his entire family.

Thank you Terri and Bernie for allowing us to kick off and play at Scott's tribute in Virginia Beach at Abbey Road.

We are not professional musicians only just back porch pickers who get together once a month to pick at a local jam at a local coffee house.

And right before Scott moved he was coming to our jam and what was so great was that there were several former students (at least 4) in the group of Scott's.

He was a great guy and a great player and even though he was...

Terri, I only just heard about Scott's passing, and I wanted to tell you how shocked and sorry I am. Scott was a great person and it made me happy knowing the two of you were together. I haven't seen Scott since we were all at Virginia Wesleyan, but he was an unforgettable person who clearly touched the lives of everyone he met. I hope that you can find comfort in your son Paul and all your happy memories of Scott. You are definitely in my thoughts.

I am at a loss for words except to say that we will all miss Scott.

Scott was my first mandolin instructor, he was encouraging & patient. He always greeted me with a smile and a “HEY CHRIS THOMAS”. We discussed what made music good and discussed things that you can’t touch. Scott was broad and diverse in what he listened to and always had good suggestions for new listening.

After a while we found that we had other interests in common. We talked about flying/airplanes,...

To Scott's Family,
And especially to Terri,
I am so, so sorry. Please accept my deepest condolances. I grieve with you for the loss of my picking buddy and friend, your dear one.

I am a former student of Scott's. He was my guitar teacher and when it was time for me to go he was my friend.

Please accept my deepest and sincere condolences. Scott was a nice guy and a great guitar player.

I have had the pleasure of studying with, playing in jams with and being taught by Scotts.

My prayers go out to Terri and Paul and all of Scott's family.
