Scott Robert Farrell, 45, passed away on May 17th, 2023, at his home in the comfort of his wife’s embrace. Scott was fortunate to have loving friends and family that in his last few days surrounded him with love. Scott was born in Point Pleasant hospital and lived in Brick before moving to Toms River seven years ago. Scott was a 1996 graduate of Brick High School. He received his biochemistry degree from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia and then went on to earn his master’s degree from the University of Delaware where he was also working towards his PhD.
Scott was a chemistry professor at Ocean County College for the past ten years. He loved assisting his students to find their way on their path to their own careers. Scott was a member of the Brick Township Marching Dragons Band while in high school, along with his brothers. This was something that his entire family enjoyed doing together. Scott was a member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) in high school and then as a professor at OCC he started a HOSA chapter that he was the advisor of. Scott was also a member of The Society of Creative Anachronism, TRAC (Tom’s River Artist Community), The American Chemical Society, The OCC Gamers Club and was the advisor of the OCC Science Club. Scott loved playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends from all around the world, he was a talented chainmaille artist, he loved attending renaissance fairs with his wife (this is how he met his wife), he was an avid camper, he loved to kayak, he was fond of game nights with friends and was passionate about his Irish heritage.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife Rita Farrell-Kemprowski; his parents Hank and Barbara Farrell of Brick; his daughter Gracie Hrabovsky; his brother Henry Farrell and his wife Tina of Brick; his brother Steve Farrell and his wife Christina of South Toms River; his nephew Steven Farrell; his nieces Katie and Emily Farrell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family. Scott leaves behind his five cats who he adored Luna, Belle, Ariana, Harper, and Alana.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023, from 4-8 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 9:30 AM at Colonial Funeral Home. The Interment will be at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River after the funeral service.
Thank you to all his family, friends and students who called, sent messages, visited, wrote letters, and made his final time here special. This brought him comfort and many special moments during the last several weeks.
