Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home - Lorain Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Scott Langston, who left us on June 12, 2025, just one day after his 62nd birthday.

Scott was a man of many gifts. He was strong, kind, and deeply talented. A skilled contractor by trade, Scott spent his life building more than just homes. He built trust, community, and a legacy of hard work and quiet generosity. He also had a deep love for the land, having spent many years working on a farm, where he felt grounded and fulfilled by the rhythm of nature and honest labor.

Scott’s life was defined by the dreams he built for himself and for those he loved. One of his greatest was the forever home he began building for himself and his wife. A peaceful retreat filled with love, laughter, and the comfort of nature. When illness made it difficult to finish, his family and friends stepped in to help complete it, a true labor of love and a tribute to the man who inspired them.

He also brought to life another dream close to his wife Ginny’s heart: a home filled with animals. Though it may not have started as his dream, he embraced it fully and joyfully. Thanks to Scott, their land became a haven filled with horses, chickens, and most famously many, many alpacas. He turned her vision into reality, just as he did with so many things in life: with love, patience, and a little elbow grease.

But perhaps one of the most vibrant parts of Scott’s life was his music. A passionate and naturally gifted musician, Scott could play virtually any instrument he picked up, with no formal training at all. He had an incredible ear, and could listen to any song just once and play it back effortlessly, without ever needing a sheet of music. Music flowed through him and became a second language, one he shared with anyone lucky enough to hear him play.

Over the years, Scott brought his musical talent to several bands, including Oz Knozz, Hard Candy, The Dynasoars, Wish You Were Here, Slamina-Y-Trap, and My Old School. He was also famously known by those who loved him as “Rock Daddy” a proud dad who never stopped jamming, performing, or sharing the stage with the next generation. Whether performing for a crowd or jamming with friends, he brought soul, energy, and joy to every note. His music touched many and continues to echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Above all else, Scott was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia “Ginny” Langston; his children, Anthony Ramirez (with wife Maddison Ramirez), Kimi Ramirez-Allen, and Lindsey Ramirez (with partner Roland Heck); and his five cherished grandchildren: Alyssa, Eva, Mia, Jace, and Millie. He also leaves behind his three sisters Lori, Leslie, and Shelley along with many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Scott’s presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by countless friends, fellow musicians, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Please join us in celebrating Scott’s life on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM at New Russia Township Hall, 46300 Butternut Ridge Road, Oberlin, Ohio

We’ll honor Scott the way he would have loved with live music, food, drinks, and his absolute favorite: lots of desserts.

Everyone is welcome.

Not sure what to say?

He was a great friend. Went to school together and worked together

My sweet cousin. We didn’t see each other often but I know him as fun, loving, unique, caring and much more. Remembering him always makes me smile and warms my heart. He is now free of pain, strong and watching over his family and friends. Love and miss him.

We will be there for you Scott! Love and miss you! You’ve earned your wings

Really going to miss you, Scotty. Say hi to Chaz for me. Until we meet again.

I first met Scott in 1984 when I auditioned for the band Oz Knozz in Houston. The singer at the time Milton, talked me in to auditioning. Scott was the first one to welcome me. He even helped me carry my equipment in. Afterwards he assured me, "man, you got this...you're in!" We instantly became friends. He was just a kid, only 21 years old but already married, and living far away from his hometown in Ohio. After years of performing, touring, writing music, and "band stuff", it was hard to...

To my musical brother in Oz Knozz, one of the finest bass players I've ever had the privilege to work with! We'll jam again one day!

I went to school with Scott and worked with sorry he was a great man and I was glad know Scott and God bless

Love and miss you Scott. Rest in peace

I can’t believe this
