LUCAS, Scott Walter, 58, of Manakin-Sabot, Va., passed into God's Kingdom on June 15, 2012. He is survived by his beloved children, Scott Ryan Lucas and wife, Vanessa, and Erin Patricia Lucas; his grandsons, Jake and Gavin Lucas; his father, Earl Lucas Jr.; his brother, Tim and wife, Ellen; his sister, Terri and husband, Reed; several nephews and nieces; and his nurse and partner, Kellie Shantz. He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Tucker Lucas. He lived a full and blessed life surrounded by the love of his family, friends, and co-workers. Scott exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit in the business world and successfully built an insurance and financial planning agency, serving as an Agency Vice President of HBW Insurance and Financial Services. Most recently, HBW has established a perpetual annual award for outstanding performance in his name. Scott's education included Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania and the Darden Graduate Business School at the University of Virginia. Scott was an active member of the Western Henrico Rotary Club and a founding member and recent president of the Short Pump Rotary Club for a combination of 15 years. He was also an active member of Saint Matthew's United Methodist Church for the past seven years.

Over the course of his lifetime he learned that the greatest purpose in life is to serve others. He also learned that the greatest power on earth is love. He completed that understanding in the final year of his life with the help of his partner, Kellie, and the outpouring of friendship and concern from others. A memorial service will be held at Saint Matthew's United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pat Lucas Memorial Music Fund at Saint Matthew's United Methodist Church at 1706 St. Matthew's Lane, Richmond, Va. 23233.

Not sure what to say?

Great memories from Stamford High School. Football, Deans. Great laugh. We feel your loss.

We knew Scott for many years as our financial advisor. We also considered him a good friend. He was totally competent and honest in his professional life and a personable gentleman in every sense of the word. We were very upset when he told us of his illness. We send our sympathy to his family and friends. He did a lot of good in his life, and we wish he had stayed with us longer, although we know he has gone to a better place.

My thoughts snd prayers are with your family. Scott was so kind and giving. I had the honor of working with Scott for several years and will miss him.

To the entire Lucas family & friends please know that this man has touched my life in a way I have never been touched before. I don't know where my path will lead me but because of him I am truly excited about it & look forward to every day!
Rest in Peace my friend, my Mentor.

Earl, Tim, Ellen and Terri,

I am so sorry about Scott. He had a lot going for him and will be missed.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Lucas family, I just found a great photo of Scott at a dinner party before you were married and I will bring with me. I think Earl will like it.

Love Janet

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
