Scott Michael Murphy Sr.

Scott Michael Murphy Sr. of the Tacony section of Philadelphia passed away on October 7, 2021. Loving father of Scott M. Murphy Jr. and Hunter L. Murphy and a loving brother to three sisters and two brothers; Joanne Murphy, Michele Farrell (Timothy), Tracy Murphy, Robert J. Murphy Jr (Kathy) and Sean Murphy. Scott will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews and his friends from the neighborhood. He was predeceased by his parents Joan C. and Robert J. Murphy Sr. Scott grew up in the Wissinoming section where he attended St. Bartholomew Grade School followed by being a proud graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, 89'. After North Catholic, Scott attended Lincoln Technical Institute. Scott would then go on to be a HVAC Technician for over 30 years. Outside of work, Scott devoted much of his time volunteering at Vogt C.A. where he coached and impacted the lives of many over 18 years. Scott started at Vogt as just a coach but over the years he gained the trust of many, working his way up to the board of directors as a basketball commissioner. Years later, he would be nominated by his peers and ultimately selected as the president of the organization where he would lead the recreational center for many years. Anyone involved at Vogt remembers Scott because of his beautiful personality and dedication to helping others around him. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 9 AM to 11 AM in St. Timothy Church, 3001 Levick St. Philadelphia, PA 19149.
