Not sure what to say?

Scott was a wonderful friend. We have many memories of him to make us smile. Knowing him these 30 years has been such a blessing. Scott was one of our dearest college friends. From Mesabi State to UMD, we remember broomball games, Boundary Waters canoe trips and all the ways Scott endeared himself to us and all who knew him. We shared a love of Northern Minnesota and dogs, and even a common birthday (Aug. 15). Scott was in our wedding party- if not for him we never would have met. Scott was...

Scott transferred to our group about two years ago, bringing much experience, scientific competence and interest, which he applied with dedication to achieve important contributions in multiple projects. He combined this professional competence with a friendly and comfortable interactive manner....and with such a broad reach. We will miss Scott.

Scott brought a wonderful positive attitude to our volleyball team and was always a generous team player. I remember Scott having a great game following Y2K, and it was like a "new and improved" Scott Plaisted, so we nicknamed him S-2000. I will also never forget how Scott's volleyball skills were at their peak if he had two beers before the game. Scott was a key contributor to the team name as well, the BeerDragons. I will miss Scott, and volleyball will never be quite the same without him.

I have several fond memories of Scott over the past 25 years, as a co-worker, in the golf league, but the thing I will remember most is our mutual interest in college hockey. Scott was an avid fisherman and hunter. However, once hunting season was over he would turn his attention to hockey. Scott and I really got into the game, including early arrival to watch warm-ups, game analysis, keeping close tabs on the entire college hockey world, prognostication as to which teams would be selected...

I got to know Scott through sports activities (soccer, golf, volleyball) at Upjohn/Pharmacia. I can still remember the first time I played golf with Scott -- I offered to buy him a pair of golf shoes (he used to play in bare feet). A great guy to be around, always quick with a laugh or a smile. I played golf with him for the last time in June. Hard to imagine he's gone - he will be missed.

Who will be able to forget Scott's love of garlic, onions, and salsa. As Scott's coffee-break partners at work, Scott was extremely disappointed if "The Works" bagel was not available. Seemingly, everyone would smile and joke about the selected alternative. It was a pleasure to socialize and work with Scott. It will be difficult to drink our morning coffee without him, but his fond stories and memories will never be forgotten.

Goodbye Scott

Dorothy & Russ,

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I remember you both as friends of my uncle and aunt, Ralph & Bernice Tostrup. My parents are the Wedlunds from Proctor, who also lost a son at age 49 to a heart attack. Look to your faith in God to help you through this difficult time, you have my sincere sympathy. Take care.

My wife and I have known Scott for many years and as others have mentioned I can’t remember ever seeing him without a smile on his face. He had a very unique laugh and if you spent any time around him the general good nature of his personality couldn’t help but rub off on you. Scott played volleyball with my wife and was a regular sub on my golf league. We socialized with him on many occasions throughout the years, and enjoyed his tales of the North Country and his adventures in the wilds of...

I worked with Scott for over 22 years. My favorite memory however is that "Michigan" winters only lasted January 1-31st because otherwise Scott would be witnessed arriving and leaving work in "shorts" (pants above the knees). His smile, humor and kindness will be very missed. He always has been a very special man!
