Not sure what to say?

I’m so very sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. I was a client back in 2008 when I was going through my divorce and had to reach back out to him at various times in the years since for guidance with child support. He was such a kind, caring and knowledgeable man who also was frank and down to earth with his advice. I appreciated all of his support at such a challenging time in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Scott was a Family Law colleague with whom it was a pleasure to have a case. He was clearly so bright yet he never tried to "show me up" as opposing counsel. We could always talk about a case by phone and try to find a good resolution for our clients. That is a gift in Family Law practice. My best conversations, however, occurred when we ran into each other at Myers Park branch library or a used book store such as Book Buyers where it was clear he was well known. I will dearly miss our...

I was sorry to hear that Scott Pollard had passed away. Although I didn't know Scott personally I saw him many times at Olde Providence Racquet Club executing finesse shots and then reading pages of his current book between game changes. He was a sweet, intelligent, thoughtful man. What more could you ask for? I am sorry for your loss.

Scott and I had tennis and the law in common but at highly varied levels of practice. I had a great admiration for what he did on the two “courts.” Most of all I have a great regret that I did not engage him in his declining years when we would pass on our Westfield walks. Never leave a word of admiration unspoken. Never. Sam Williams

To the family of Scott Pollard. I was a client, during a difficult season of life, and Scot was the consummate friend, professional, class act that you knew him to be. He touched many people, most of whom you’ll never meet, with his humanity, decency, sense of Fairplay, and compassion. I’m truly saddened to learn of his passing because the world was a better place with Scott in it, and the legal community was dignified by his mere presence. God bless all of you.

When I walked in, Scott yelled out of his office, “Beverly, is temp number 83 here yet?” I knew at that moment we would work out well together.

I loved every moment that I worked with Scott. From his wearing flip flops to court, wrapping himself in Christmas lights and proclaiming himself the best gift he could give his staff, to finding places in the office that we could squirrel away his forever growing book collection. (To say he loved his books would be an understatement.)

I was one of Scott’s law partners. Before I retired, Scott and I would eat lunch, on average, three days a week at our favorite lunch spot, Lupie’s. Scott always brought a book and read as we ate and discussed what he was reading—often poetry, which both of us loved. Two of our favorite poems were “The Windhover” and “The Red Wheelbarrow.” After lunch we would frequently drive to a branch of the public library, the Salvation Army Store, or to one of the several old book stores in Charlotte,...
